Safety Manager - Indianapolis, IN
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a manufacturing equipment installation project at an active industrial facility in Indianapolis, IN. This position will play a key role in maintaining site safety compliance while supporting daily construction and installation activities. The Safety Manager will oversee field safety operations for a team of approximately 10 millwrights and electricians involved in equipment installation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment, proactively identifying hazards, supporting corrective actions, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the duration of the project.
Requirements
- OSHA 510 Certification
- Experience supporting industrial or manufacturing projects
- Knowledge of high-risk work permit procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel and plant representatives
- Experience conducting jobsite safety observations and inspections
- Ability to work on-site in Indianapolis, IN for the project duration
- Ability to monitor field activities throughout active work shifts
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to enforce safety policies while maintaining positive working relationships
- Strong understanding of industrial construction safety practices, OSHA regulations, contractor management, hazard identification, permit-required work processes, lockout/tagout awareness, and safe execution of manufacturing equipment installation projects.
- Experience working with skilled trades in active industrial environments and coordinating with client safety teams to maintain compliance and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Assist with administration and oversight of high-risk work permits
- Monitor daily activities of millwrights and electricians in the field
- Conduct routine safety observations and identify potential hazards
- Coordinate with plant safety personnel regarding site requirements and concerns
- Provide guidance on safe work practices and compliance expectations
- Support incident prevention efforts and corrective action implementation
- Maintain safety documentation and project records as required
- Communicate safety expectations to contractors and site personnel
