About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a major retrofit project inside an active Amazon distribution center in West Jefferson, OH. This is a high-visibility, field-focused position responsible for protecting personnel, equipment, and ongoing facility operations while construction activities are completed within a fully operational environment. The Safety Manager will work closely with the general contractor, subcontractors, project leadership, and facility representatives to identify risks, enforce safety expectations, and maintain compliance throughout the project. Because construction will take place alongside active distribution operations, the successful candidate must be comfortable managing overlapping work activities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and addressing hazards before they impact employees, contractors, or site productivity.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in safety, occupational health, construction management, or a related field OR Current BCSP certification OR OSHA 500 certification with at least six years of professional safety experience
  • Experience managing safety on commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or distribution facility construction projects
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements
  • Experience conducting field inspections, compliance audits, and hazard assessments
  • Ability to manage construction safety within an active operational facility
  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to work directly with contractors, subcontractors, field personnel, and project leadership
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily field safety operations and project compliance activities
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments
  • Monitor construction activities occurring around active facility operations
  • Enforce project safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions
  • Identify unsafe behaviors, conditions, and operational conflicts before incidents occur
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, injuries, and reported safety concerns
  • Develop, communicate, and track corrective action plans
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and safety logs
  • Evaluate contractor and subcontractor compliance with established safety standards
  • Partner with project management to resolve safety concerns without unnecessarily disrupting operations
  • Promote accountability and a proactive safety culture throughout the project
