About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager with demonstrated asbestos abatement and demolition experience to provide full-time, on-site safety leadership for a large-scale environmental remediation and total demolition project in the Philadelphia area. This is a strong opportunity for a qualified safety professional seeking a long-term assignment, consistent Monday through Friday schedule, weekly pay, and up to $200 per day in traveler per diem. The selected contractor will oversee safety activities involving asbestos removal and the total demolition of multiple one-story structures. This position requires a visible field presence, strong documentation skills, and the ability to identify and correct hazards in a high-risk demolition environment.

Requirements

  • Previous asbestos abatement safety experience
  • Demolition project safety experience
  • Construction, environmental, remediation, or industrial safety background
  • Experience overseeing contractors and subcontractors
  • Strong hazard-recognition and risk-mitigation skills
  • Experience conducting daily audits, inspections, and safety reporting
  • Strong incident investigation and documentation capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with field teams
  • Available to start as soon as possible
  • Able to work full-time and on-site in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Able to commit to the anticipated 10-month project duration
  • Capable of working effectively in an active demolition environment
  • Dependable transportation and consistent site attendance

  • The ideal candidate is a confident, field-driven Safety Manager who understands the hazards associated with asbestos removal, structural demolition, environmental remediation, heavy equipment, respiratory protection, hazardous materials, and contractor-controlled work.
  • This individual must be comfortable addressing unsafe behaviors, documenting deficiencies, communicating with multiple project stakeholders, and maintaining consistent safety expectations throughout a demanding demolition project.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily safety leadership throughout all project activities
  • Monitor asbestos abatement operations for safe and compliant execution
  • Oversee demolition activities and associated high-risk work
  • Conduct jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
  • Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate corrective actions
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and incident documentation
  • Verify contractor and subcontractor compliance with site safety requirements
  • Support emergency-response planning and incident-prevention initiatives
  • Partner with project management to achieve safety and operational objectives
  • Promote accountability and a proactive safety culture across the project
