About The Position

Great Basin Staffing LLC is seeking an experienced Safety Manager for a long-term opportunity supporting industrial construction operations at a Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This role serves as the primary onsite safety leader and works directly with project leadership, field supervisors, subcontractors, and craft labor to maintain a proactive safety culture throughout all phases of construction. This position sits directly below senior safety leadership and will be responsible for day-to-day field safety operations, compliance enforcement, training coordination, documentation, and incident prevention. This is a permanent placement opportunity with a well-established industrial contractor.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of construction safety experience in industrial, civil, utility, wastewater, manufacturing, or heavy construction environments
  • OSHA 30 Certification required
  • Strong understanding of excavation safety, confined space, fall protection, lockout/tagout, and heavy equipment safety
  • Experience conducting field audits and safety training
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel and management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening

Nice To Haves

  • Wastewater treatment plant experience strongly preferred
  • CHST, STSC, CSP, or similar certifications preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Experience working for industrial general contractors preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily onsite safety operations for active wastewater treatment construction projects
  • Conduct daily jobsite audits, safety inspections, and hazard assessments
  • Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies
  • Conduct toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, and new hire orientations
  • Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and corrective actions
  • Assist project leadership with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) development
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
  • Maintain OSHA logs, safety reports, incident documentation, and training records
  • Monitor PPE compliance, confined space procedures, excavation safety, lockout/tagout, and fall protection requirements
  • Work directly with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to maintain safe production goals
  • Help foster a proactive "zero incident" culture onsite
