About The Position

S&R Enterprises is seeking a Project Safety Manager to oversee safety on a single Atlanta construction project. This role requires a hands-on approach, with the authority to enforce safety standards and a direct reporting line to senior safety leadership. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to ensuring a safe and compliant work environment, with a focus on practical, field-based safety rather than just documentation. This position is for individuals who take pride in their craft and want to be part of a team that values quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of construction safety experience on active job sites.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety rules, including fall protection, confined space, hot work, lockout tagout, and chemical management.
  • Experience leading agency inspections on site and serving as the contractor point of contact during the visit.
  • Proven ability to investigate incidents, write factual narrative reports, and drive corrections to closure.
  • Experience delivering new hire orientation, operator training for forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts, and ongoing compliance training to field crews.
  • Comfort with SharePoint for document management and solid skill with common office software for reports, logs, and presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to brief executive leadership and coach foremen with equal credibility.
  • Able to work independently on a single project site while reporting to company safety leadership.
  • Able to walk and work on uneven ground in extreme temperatures, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and climb ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and aerial lifts.
  • Able to wear conventional fall protection equipment rated to a 300 pound universal weight restriction.

Nice To Haves

  • Steel erection or structural steel experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the condition of the job site, ensuring programs match federal, state, and local rules, and the safest known method is used.
  • Conduct daily observations and weekly audits to catch hazards.
  • Document and follow up on unsafe conditions until corrections are made.
  • Ensure the site is organized and equipment is accounted for at the end of the day.
  • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses by walking the area, reading documents, and talking to witnesses.
  • Maintain an accurate injury log with property damage, first aids, and recordables.
  • Provide factual and complete reporting to leadership on safety trends.
  • Train all personnel on the safe way to perform their work through new hire orientation, refreshers, post-incident retraining, and operator training.
  • Mentor foremen and crew leads to establish safe behavior as a crew habit.
  • Track certifications and document completions.
  • Hold relationships with the general contractor, site neighbors, and regulators.
  • Represent S&R during agency inspections and serve as the point of contact for regulators.
  • Coach the field towards a culture of speaking up and looking out for each other.
  • Ensure safety paperwork is accurate and current, including job hazard analyses, PPE assessments, and certificates.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, labeling, and storage.
  • Check documentation before it goes to the office and plan for adverse conditions.
