About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join a diverse and growing organisation based in Wangaratta, supporting a workforce of approximately 300 employees across multiple operational environments including manufacturing, warehousing and field-based technical services. This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible leadership role where you will shape safety strategy, influence business performance and help create a workplace where everyone goes home safe every day. About the Role Reporting to senior leadership, you will lead and drive the Health, Safety and Wellbeing function across multiple sites and operational activities. You will develop, implement and continuously improve safety systems, ensuring compliance while fostering a practical, positive and people-focused safety culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or Occupational Health & Safety
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar Safety Manager, Safety Advisor or Health & Safety leadership role within manufacturing, industrial, logistics, warehousing, technical services or a comparable operational environment
  • Experience as a Return to Work Coordinator
  • Strong capability in risk management, safety systems and operational safety leadership
  • Proven experience leading complex incident investigations and implementing sustainable corrective actions
  • Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures, record-keeping requirements and safety management systems
  • Strong understanding and application of digital reporting and safety management platforms
  • Comprehensive knowledge of: Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Victoria)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of: Victorian OHS Regulations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of: Relevant Australian Standards and industry best practice
  • Current driver's licence

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing and managing the organisation's OHS Operational Plan
  • Acting as the organisation's Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator
  • Leading risk management activities, including hazard identification, risk assessments and controls
  • Delivering and coordinating safety training, coaching and capability development
  • Supporting managers and employees with task design, reasonable adjustments and injury prevention initiatives
  • Facilitating meaningful consultation with employees, Health and Safety Representatives and key stakeholders
  • Leading incident investigations using recognised methodologies such as ICAM, Root Cause Analysis and other contemporary investigation techniques
  • Ensuring corrective actions are practical, effective and embedded into business operations
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and reporting requirements
  • Managing safety records, reporting systems and digital safety management tools
  • Developing safety metrics, reporting insights and recommendations to support business decision-making
  • Driving continuous improvement across all safety and wellbeing programs
