About The Position

The Safety Manager will support a major Amazon Data Center construction project in Woodford, VA, working directly with a roofing contractor on-site. This role is responsible for overseeing and implementing all safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. The selected candidate will serve as the primary safety resource for field operations, promoting a strong safety culture while proactively identifying and mitigating workplace hazards. Daily interaction with project management, field supervision, and craft personnel will be required to maintain a safe and productive work environment throughout the duration of the project.

Requirements

  • Degreed safety professional with 12-15 years of continuous construction safety experience OR 10 years of full-time construction safety experience with OSHA 500 certification OR Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals with at least 2 years of continuous construction safety experience
  • Ability to work a 50-hour schedule and additional hours as project needs require
  • Experience supporting active construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices
  • Ability to conduct inspections, audits, and field observations
  • Effective communication and leadership skills in a construction environment
  • Strong understanding of construction safety management within commercial and industrial environments, including hazard recognition, fall protection, roofing operations, OSHA compliance, incident prevention, safety audits, contractor management, and field-based safety leadership.
  • Experience supporting high-profile construction projects and maintaining a proactive safety culture is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily site safety activities for roofing operations on a large-scale data center project
  • Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
  • Develop corrective actions and ensure timely resolution of hazards
  • Maintain required safety documentation and reporting
  • Partner with project management and field supervision to promote safe work practices
  • Support subcontractor safety compliance and performance monitoring
  • Assist with risk assessments and job hazard analyses
