About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager with strong steel erection expertise to provide full-time, on-site safety leadership for a large-scale data center construction project in Sterling, Virginia. This is a fast-moving, field-focused assignment requiring a confident safety professional who understands the hazards associated with steel erection, elevated work, material handling, and simultaneous construction operations. The selected contractor will work directly with project leadership, field supervision, trade partners, and craft personnel to identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and maintain compliance with OSHA, client, and site-specific safety requirements.

Requirements

  • OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 511 Certification
  • Proven experience supporting steel erection projects
  • Construction safety management experience on active commercial or industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Working knowledge of fall protection, elevated work, rigging, cranes, and material handling
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project leadership and field personnel
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and follow-through skills
  • Availability to work 50-60 hours per week and Saturdays when required

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily field activities for compliance with OSHA, client, and project-specific safety requirements
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
  • Provide direct safety oversight for steel erection activities
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive measures
  • Review pre-task plans, job hazard analyses, and high-risk work activities
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and field training
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, root-cause analysis, and follow-up actions
  • Partner with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel
  • Track safety observations, corrective actions, incidents, and leading indicators
  • Maintain accurate and timely safety documentation and reports
  • Reinforce accountability while promoting a proactive, solutions-focused safety culture
