About The Position

Provide guidance and oversight to AES global facilities to facilitate compliance with safety regulations, Company standards and policy, and implementation of best practices. This includes safety practices and standards associated with renewables, transmission and distribution operations, new projects, thermal generation, decommissioning, and construction activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field.
  • Minimum of seven years recent experience in a safety related field in a large industrial, processing or manufacturing environment or corporate safety department.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to effectively communicate highly technical information to broad and varying audiences. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of modern safety principles (e.g., HOP, HRO).
  • Excellent knowledge of and direct experience with OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and commitment to deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of data presentation including excellent Microsoft Excel skills

  • Experience in energy sector
  • Fully fluent in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish
  • Experience with EHS Management Systems
  • Professional Certifications: CSP, CIH, CHMM
  • Experienced with ISO 45001

Responsibilities

  • Development of Company safety standards and tools to facilitate AES Businesses’ compliance. Coordinate and lead workgroups of AES safety SMEs and operational/project leaders to collaboratively develop and updated AES Safety Standards in adherence with modern safety principles and AES goals.
  • Report objectives and goals of EHS Center of Expertise with Company leaders and committees.
  • Develop and provide tools and training materials through collaboration with relevant SMEs for global businesses to facilitate implementation of compliance with Company standards, goals, and policies.
  • Track AES Businesses’ compliance with AES Standards, including EHS auditing, EHS data reporting, training, and Incident Management reporting. Facilitate adherence to AES Standards.
  • Build and maintain global forum/platform for knowledge sharing, implementation tools, and communication to facilitate safety program development and implementation and promote continuous improvement across AES Businesses.
  • Facilitate global collaboration of EHS professionals to encourage information sharing, team building, and professional development.
  • Provide reports and dashboards for safety metrics, KPIs, and data, as requested, for routine and ad hoc reports, presentations, and other purposes.
