This is a districtwide role intended to serve all Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) campuses. Assignments will be made based on program needs and project workloads in each region and campus. Candidates should indicate regional preference on the qualifications form. The role involves performing management oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, reporting on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance on multiple project sites. The Safety Manager will monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements, perform daily safety reviews of work in progress, and monitor adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures. This position will support the Program Safety Manager by attending meetings and providing safety reports/analysis. The Safety Manager will also attend construction meetings, lead safety topics, report on site observations, and review upcoming construction schedules for hazard preparedness. Responsibilities include performing ongoing construction site safety inspections, generating daily safety reports, and submitting weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Reports. Additionally, the role involves reviewing contractor submittals, participating in safety stand-downs, preparing lessons learned, performing safety orientations, and monitoring adherence to zero tolerance policies. The position requires flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
