About The Position

The Safety Manager will ensure the behavior of the crew (when working on a client site) is in accordance with company safety culture. This role requires understanding lagging and leading safety indicators and promoting a philosophy that achieves established goals. Key responsibilities include identification of job site/area specific safety requirements, safety equipment, material procurement, training requirements, and tracking of training. The primary responsibility is to manage and enforce the Site Safety Program for assigned project(s) by identifying, eliminating, and controlling hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage. By using and enforcing job-specific safety standards, best management practices, and the Site Specific safety program, the Safety Manager will ensure the safety of all persons and property on the job site, aiming for an accident/incident-free project.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of Construction Industry methods and OSHA standards.
  • OSHA 30 Construction Industry Certification.
  • 5-10 years safety experience in the construction industry.
  • Basic working knowledge of MS Office and Windows.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 500 certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and enforce Site Safety Program for assigned project(s).
  • Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions.
  • Ensure safety of all persons and property on the job site.
  • Enforce safe work practices and conditions in accordance with regulations and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct daily and/or weekly job site inspections.
  • Record observations and complete required reports.
  • Investigate, corroborate, and document all accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct weekly "Toolbox Safety Meetings" and document content and attendance.
  • Conduct Safety Orientations for new employees.
  • Advise project staff on site-specific safety issues/guidelines.
  • Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations.
