We are hiring a Safety Manager to join our team!

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of current safety practices and applicable OSHA, DOT, and other governmental safety standards.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, assess risk, and translate findings into practical corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and maintain accurate, confidential records.
  • Knowledge of warehouse equipment, powered industrial trucks, material handling operations, and vehicle safety practices.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across departments while maintaining safety and compliance expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and safety recordkeeping/reporting systems.
  • Ability to travel to branch and distribution locations as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, risk management, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of safety and/or training experience, preferably in a heavy equipment, material handling, warehouse, or multi-site environment.
  • Experience supporting multiple locations and partnering with operational leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own, maintain, and continuously improve company safety policies, procedures, and the strategic site safety action plan.
  • Partner with leadership to establish and sustain a strong safety culture and influence key safety priorities.
  • Provide technical and administrative safety support to leaders and associates across branch and distribution operations.
  • Analyze safety data, review trends, complete Leader Standard Work, and communicate risks, progress, and priorities to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules, including OSHA and DOT requirements.
  • Maintain required safety records and reports and coordinate documentation with safety compliance organizations and customers.
  • Lead regulatory visits, including OSHA, EPA, and fire authority visits, and coordinate responses, corrective actions, and remediation.
  • Conduct hazard assessments, safety inspections, audits, and quarterly branch site visits covering associate, vehicle, equipment, and facility compliance.
  • Identify hazards and opportunities to reduce workplace injuries, vehicle incidents, accidents, and health risks; partner with appropriate teams through resolution.
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate safety training on applicable standards, safe work practices, and effective use of tools and equipment.
  • Recommend revisions, improvements, and updates to safety training based on operational needs, audit findings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct operator training and Train-the-Trainer classes for associates and customers.
  • Communicate safety expectations and reinforce accountability at the leadership and associate levels.
  • Manage and communicate workers’ compensation and vehicle incident cases with insurance representatives, consultants, and other third parties.
  • Coordinate incident review, documentation, trend evaluation, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Escalate unresolved risk and compliance obligations and monitor actions through completion.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
