About The Position

Feyen Zylstra is seeking a Safety Manager for their Charlotte, NC office. This role is part of the Safety Team and involves collaborating with project team leaders, field leaders, and front-line field workers to educate them on FZ’s safety culture and standards and ensure adherence. The Safety Manager will contribute to building, maintaining, and improving safety programs, policies, processes, and practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Construction or Industrial related Safety, including knowledge of and exposure to electrical related hazards.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), safety software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills with the ability to balance safety education vs. accountability.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide 24 X 7 on-call support for safety emergencies or incidents that occur after hours or on weekends.
  • Travel required - regularly to regional job sites in provided company truck and by plane to out of state meetings at the Michigan headquarters (overnights required).
  • Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or relevant degree strongly preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician licensing a plus.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
  • Safety certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST) a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project team leaders, field leaders, and front-line field workers to educate on FZ’s safety culture and standards.
  • Ensure safety standards are adhered to by all.
  • Help build, maintain, and improve safety programs, policies, processes, and practices.
  • Educate, communicate, and multitask to address risks.
  • Gather information to understand the whole picture and contribute to team success.
  • Hold others accountable to following safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Field Leadership and others to continually improve employee safety.
  • Document, track data, establish metrics, and keep reporting up-to-date.
  • Communicate pertinent safety information to others.
  • Provide 24 X 7 on-call support for safety emergencies or incidents that occur after hours or on weekends.
  • Travel regularly to regional job sites in a company truck and by plane to out-of-state meetings (overnights required).
