This position will be assigned to the Seaside Region (WLAC, LAHC, and LASC) but is a District-Wide position. The Safety Manager will perform management oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, reporting on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance on multiple project sites. The role involves monitoring compliance with all current OSHA requirements, performing daily safety reviews of work in progress, and monitoring adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures. The position also supports the Program Safety Manager by attending meetings and providing safety reports/analysis. The Safety Manager will attend construction meetings, lead safety topics, report on site observations, and review upcoming construction schedules for hazard preparedness. Responsibilities include ongoing construction site safety inspections, generating daily safety reports, and submitting weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Reports. A key part of the role involves reviewing contractor submittals such as JHA, MOP, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation and Scaffold Erecting Plans, Confined Space Entry, and hazard assessments. The Safety Manager will also review contractor-submitted incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and submit lessons learned. Documenting safety orientations and monitoring adherence to zero tolerance policies are also required. The role requires flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
