About The Position

This paid internship at RHI Magnesita's York manufacturing facility offers hands-on experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS). Interns will work alongside experienced safety professionals, contributing to projects focused on employee safety, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing operations. The program provides real-world exposure to OSHA compliance, incident investigations, safety training, risk assessments, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives, preparing interns for a career in EHS.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
• Interest in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

• Previous manufacturing, internship, or safety-related experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with workplace inspections and safety observations.
• Support hazard identification and corrective action tracking.
• Participate in incident investigations by gathering information, documentation, and follow-up actions.
• Help maintain safety-related records and compliance documentation.
• Enter and maintain HSE metrics, reports, and tracking tools.
• Assist in preparing weekly and monthly safety performance reports.
• Support trending analysis for incidents, near misses, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Help ensure accuracy and organization of safety data and records.
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating safety training sessions.
• Maintain training records, attendance logs, and certifications.
• Support safety awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and employee communications.
• Assist with preparation of presentations, posters, and other safety-related materials.
• Help maintain SDS records and other compliance documentation.
• Assist with audit preparation and regulatory reporting activities.
• Support management of inspection schedules, compliance deadlines, and permit documentation.
• Assist with purchasing and inventory tracking of safety supplies and PPE.
• Gain exposure to manufacturing operations and environmental, health, and safety programs.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams on safety initiatives.
• Complete an internship project and present recommendations to site leadership at the conclusion of the program.
