About The Position
This is a paid summer internship opportunity located onsite in Paducah, KY, with internship dates ranging from mid-May to early August 2027 (can be flexible on dates). Gain hands-on experience in safety operations within the inland marine industry. Learn how safety programs, audits, and safety training are implemented. Requirements
- Currently seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Safety, or related field.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional team player.
Responsibilities
- Attend and assist internal/external vessel compliance activities such as Audits, Surveys, and Coast Guard inspections.
- Participate in drafting Risk Assessments for various vessel operations.
- Maintain and analyze the database of audits, inspections, and expiration dates; flag upcoming deadlines proactively.
- Organize and maintain safety records; training files, audits, corrective actions, manuals, and reports.
- Conduct SMS Audits to determine gaps between Policy and Procedures.
- Help draft content for safety newsletters and safety alerts, for review before distribution.
- Ability to travel and board vessels in remote areas on the river system.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
