Safety Intern
About The Position
The County Materials Family of Companies is seeking a Safety Intern to join their team in Eau Claire, WI. This role is designed for individuals who want to learn, grow, and contribute to a culture where safety is paramount. The intern will gain meaningful experience and make a lasting impact by supporting the safety department in implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures. The position involves working closely with Operations and other safety team members to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Primary objectives include administrative support and field exposure, with a focus on developing attention to detail, communication skills, and promoting a culture of safety.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in safety-focused coursework.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using basic office software and comfortable learning new systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate safety records and assist with safety manuals, guidelines, and training materials.
- Coordinate new-hire safety training, develop materials and presentations, and track employee participation.
- Conduct safety inspections, work with Operations to address hazards, and assist with internal and external audits.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents, gathering relevant information for reporting and analysis.
- Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans by coordinating drills and exercises to ensure team members are familiar with emergency procedures.
- Communicate safety policies, procedures, and updates to team members and assist in promoting a culture of safety through regular communication and awareness campaigns.
- Compile and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement and generate reports for management regarding safety performance and compliance.
- Stay informed about relevant safety regulations and ensure the organization's compliance and assist in the preparation of regulatory reports.
