Safety Intern
About The Position
The County Materials Family of Companies is seeking a Safety Intern to join their team in Marathon, WI. This role is designed for individuals who want to learn, grow, and contribute to a safety-focused culture. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the safety department with the implementation and maintenance of safety protocols and procedures. They will work closely with Operations and other members of the safety team to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The primary objectives of this position will be administrative support and field exposure, focusing on developing attention to detail, communication skills, and promoting a culture of safety.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in safety-focused coursework.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using basic office software and comfortable learning new systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate safety records and assist with safety manuals, guidelines, and training materials.
- Coordinate new-hire safety training, develop materials and presentations, and track employee participation.
- Conduct safety inspections, work with Operations to address hazards, and assist with internal and external audits.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents, gathering relevant information for reporting and analysis.
- Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans by coordinating drills and exercises to ensure team members are familiar with emergency procedures.
- Communicate safety policies, procedures, and updates to team members and assist in promoting a culture of safety through regular communication and awareness campaigns.
- Compile and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement and generate reports for management regarding safety performance and compliance.
- Stay informed about relevant safety regulations and ensure the organization's compliance and assist in the preparation of regulatory reports.
