About The Position

You will perform management responsibilities in all areas of Wohlsen’s Safety & Health program, with a focus in geographic territories as coordinated by the Director of Safety. You will motivate, coach, appraise, and resolve issues in direct support of all of our operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of construction safety and health experience, including demonstrated leadership responsibilities, required.
  • CHST, ASP, CSP, or comparable safety certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction course or equivalent required.
  • Working knowledge of construction operations, contract documents, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of workers’ compensation and automobile insurance.
  • Strong verbal, written, coaching, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn Company systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to travel to Company offices and project sites and work additional hours as business needs require.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a client-focused, team-oriented approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, Engineering, Risk Management, or related field preferred. (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Authorized OSHA 10- and 30-hour Instructor preferred.
  • Experience with digital safety management tools (e.g. Procore Safety) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular Site Safety Inspections and follow through on identified corrective actions.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, goal setting, performance reviews, recognition, and corrective action for assigned team members in coordination with the Director of Safety and Human Resources.
  • Support subcontractor safety administration, including site-specific requirements, safety meetings, incident investigations, and preventive and corrective actions.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Team and support Company safety initiatives and working groups. Monitor team performance and consistency, provide timely feedback, and escalate significant performance, conduct, or resource concerns to the Director of Safety.
  • Support development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Safety & Health and Risk Management policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Support and improve the Company Safety Orientation and other safety programs.
  • Support emergency action plans and procedures, including evacuation, rescue, hazardous materials, fire prevention/suppression, and medical emergencies.
  • Develop and support Site-Specific Safety & Health plans and procedures, including orientations, activity hazard analyses, training, and safety coordination meetings.
  • Deliver or coordinate training on Company policies, procedures, OSHA certifications, first aid, and other safety topics.
  • Ensure required safety data, reports, and documentation are accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Collect and analyze inspection and incident data to identify trends, evaluate performance, and drive preventive and corrective actions.
  • Support Safety & Health record retention, documentation, and archiving requirements.
