About The Position

Nucor Tubular - Louisville (NTP-LV) is seeking applicants for the position of Safety Engineer. Potential candidates must have a positive recommendation from their Supervisor, Department Manager, and General Manager (if applicable). Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. This role involves cultivating a culture of safety awareness and housekeeping stewardship, providing support and resources to operations, maintenance, and engineering for the implementation of safety and ergonomic improvements, understanding and implementing federal, state, and local OSHA regulations, developing and delivering safety training, reviewing and implementing safety policies and procedures, maintaining safety (OSHA 300 logs) records, interacting with regulatory agencies, and the ability to travel to other Nucor locations.

Requirements

• Experience working with federal/state safety regulations and laws
• At least two years of experience working in an industrial environment applying safety policies and development of safety and loss prevention programs
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or related experience.

• At least two years of experience working in an industrial environment applying safety policies and development of safety and loss prevention programs
• Experience with safety management systems and / or OSHA VPP
• Knowledge of Safety, Quality or Environmental Management Systems.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI, IBIH and other regulatory standards, protocols and compliance in order to create policies and procedures.
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification
