About The Position

Nucor Steel Brandenburg is seeking a Safety Coordinator that is a leader in the division to help achieve safety performance results through development and execution of the health and safety strategy, risk reduction, team engagement, compliance assurance, and training. This position requires willingness to spend time on the floor to obtain an understanding of operations for their area to be a safety resource to the team. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

• A degree in a safety and health related field or a combination of equivalent education and work experience
• Proficiency with standard workplace technology, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other digital tools used to plan, track, and deliver training
• Willingness to obtain Train-the-Trainer certification, provided through Nucor, for delivering safety training

Nice To Haves

• OSHA VPP Experience
• Experience in working with a Safety Management System
• Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health experience
• Prior safety experience in a steel manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

• Ensuring OSHA compliance
• Assisting in the administration of Workers Compensation and drug testing
• Assisting in the administration of industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs
• Maintaining and analyzing safety/health/incident data
• Overseeing contractor safety programs and security
• Developing and updating policies and procedures
• Conducting and documenting incident investigations
• Conducting safety inspections/audits
• Developing action plans and following up
• Conducting safety training (e.g., crane, mobile equipment, fall protection)
• Maintaining safety training records for the Division
• Participating in emergency response teams
