About The Position

McCormick is seeking to hire a Safety, Health, & Environmental Technician immediately at their Dallas Plant in Irving, TX. This role will provide support in facilitating the reduction of occupational risk through the implementation of procedures and engineering processes aligned with the Global McCormick Health & Safety policy. The technician will be dedicated to ensuring safe practices, achieving injury reduction, implementing proactive safety processes, increasing safety awareness, and developing and maintaining robust safety training programs. The role reports to the SHE Manager and supports job duties and tasks covering Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability.

Requirements

Associate degree in a related field (Safety/IH, Environmental, Chemistry, or Engineering) or 5-7 years of EHS experience in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of 2 years of Safety, Health, and Environment management in manufacturing.
Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and diplomacy skills.
Ability to work with minimal direction.
PAPR/Respirator use required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of contractors, staffing agency employees, and McCormick employees.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Flexibility in reacting to changes throughout the day.
Must be able to initiate change and assist others in working through changes.
Ability to work off-shifts.

Nice To Haves

Safety Functional Leader certification and/or licenses preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as a technical resource, ensuring safe practices, injury/illness prevention processes, and risk management by conducting risk assessments and job safety analyses on plant equipment.
Facilitate compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements, application of McCormick Health and Safety policies and procedures, and establishment of best practices for the plant/facility.
Develop and direct the SHE Pillar and Safety Functional Leader program to ensure appropriate Injury/Incident review boards, leading action plans, training, and root cause analysis are conducted.
Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, accidents, or other hazards.
Review and create job aids, one-point lessons, and standard operating procedures.
Conduct relevant training depending on site-specific needs.
