About The Position

The Health, Safety and Environment Specialist contributes to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in the assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Supports the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. Ensures effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain.

Requirements

High school Diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

Expertise to work with diversified functions to deploy policies in the HSE domain preferred
Knowledge of state-specific safety programs such as North Carolina Safe Star preferred

Responsibilities

Lead HSE risk assessment activities with line management, ensuring identified hazards are mitigated through effective preventive and corrective actions while promoting a proactive safety culture.
Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and ABB HSE standards by implementing policies, supporting audits, and advising leaders on HSE responsibilities, obligations, and best practices.
Drive incident management processes by facilitating investigations, conducting root cause analyses, and developing corrective action plans to reduce risk and prevent recurrence.
Monitor and report HSE performance metrics, incidents, KPIs, and training effectiveness, providing actionable insights, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Champion HSE engagement, training, and improvement initiatives by partnering with employees, managers, customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders to strengthen safety performance, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
