About The Position

Join an established marine manufacturing and repair operation as the site's lead safety professional. This role offers the opportunity to oversee day-to-day safety activities for a shipyard and barge facility while partnering closely with operations leadership, maintenance teams, and production personnel to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This position plays a critical role in protecting employees, supporting operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance across the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-7+ years of progressive safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, marine, heavy fabrication, or similar environments
  • Experience leading site-level safety programs
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Regulations & Compliance Programs
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Compliance & Reporting
  • Working knowledge of Safety Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Risk Assessment & Hazard Mitigation
  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • Working knowledge of Confined Space Entry
  • Working knowledge of Fall Protection Programs
  • Working knowledge of Crane & Rigging Safety
  • Working knowledge of Hot Work Programs
  • Working knowledge of Mobile Equipment Safety
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Manufacturing Safety
  • Working knowledge of Leadership Development & Safety Culture Improvement
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory Auditing & Compliance Management

Nice To Haves

  • CSP, ASP, CHST, or similar professional safety certification
  • Experience supporting marine, barge, welding, heavy fabrication, or industrial manufacturing operations
  • Experience supporting multi-shift operations
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the facility's primary safety and environmental leader
  • Partner with leadership teams to identify and mitigate operational risks
  • Lead regulatory compliance efforts involving OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain OSHA logs and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Develop and deliver employee safety training programs
  • Oversee high-risk safety programs including LOTO, confined space, fall protection, crane and rigging, hot work, mobile equipment, and PPE
  • Lead employee engagement and safety committee initiatives
  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics and leading indicators
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and safety management system enhancements
  • Partner with Operations, HR, Maintenance, and leadership teams to strengthen site safety performance
