About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Director to lead and manage all aspects of our company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, training programs, reporting procedures, and continuous improvement efforts across all operations. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of driving a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and construction safety regulations.
  • Experience managing safety programs within construction, utilities, site development, or heavy civil industries preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed records and reporting systems.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • CHST, CSP, ASP, or similar certifications preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full ownership and administration of the company EHS database.
  • Manage all company certifications, including initial applications, renewals, and compliance tracking.
  • Oversee OSHA and regulatory reporting procedures, including OSHA 300 Logs, case management, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with FMCSA, Clearinghouse, DOT, and all applicable driver-related regulations and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Review and evaluate company MOD/EMR performance and implement strategies to continuously reduce incident rates and improve safety performance.
  • Manage all employee safety training requirements during onboarding and throughout employment, including post-incident and recurring training.
  • Develop, coordinate, and lead all company safety meetings, including: Toolbox Talks, Safety Stand Downs, Superintendent Meetings, Director Meetings, Monthly Operations Meetings.
  • Lead the full incident reporting and investigation process, including: Initial incident documentation, Immediate response and follow-up actions, Drug/alcohol testing coordination, Root cause analysis, Documentation and record filing, Return-to-work/light-duty verification, Damage cost evaluations and tracking.
  • Prepare and manage all project-specific safety documentation, including: Exposure Control Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Competent Person Letters, Safety Checklists, Project Safety Questionnaires.
  • Conduct periodic site visits and annual fleet inspections to verify equipment and operational safety compliance.
  • Review submitted site safety inspection reports completed by internal safety personnel.
  • Track and report monthly and quarterly safety metrics, including: Site visit results, Incident trends and associated costs, Employee participation and attendance, Safety material issuance and tracking.
  • Manage company safety incentive and bonus programs, including eligibility and disqualification criteria for raffles, bonuses, and recognition programs.
  • Participate in external meetings, including: Project bid meetings, General contractor prequalification meetings, Insurance renewal meetings, Client and regulatory discussions.
  • Promote and reinforce a culture of accountability, safety awareness, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
