About The Position

The Safety Coordinator will maintain a daily presence on the shop floor throughout all production areas, conduct routine safety observations/audits, and coach employees on safe work practices. This role involves building positive relationships with hourly employees and supervisors, identifying unsafe conditions and behaviors, processing risks in real time, and promoting a proactive “See Something, Say Something” culture. The coordinator will assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, & company standards, and support all safety programs including PPE, LOTO, Haz. Com., respiratory protection, fall protection, electrical safety, ergonomics, hot work, etc. Responsibilities include conducting scheduled daily, weekly, & monthly safety inspections, responding to all injuries, near misses, property damage, spills, and safety concerns, and leading or assisting investigations to determine root cause and develop corrective actions. The Safety Coordinator will also assist the Safety Manager with plant-wide initiatives, participate in risk assessments/JHAs, and attend Branch Safety Meetings and Production Committee Meetings. Additionally, they will support fire drills, evacuation plans, severe weather readiness, and emergency response procedures, and help prepare KPI reports. The role also includes performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-4 years of experience
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • 2+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry standards.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis and employee safety training.
  • Strong communication and coaching ability.
  • Able to work in fast-paced production environment.
  • Be comfortable confronting unsafe behaviors professionally.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, reporting systems).
