About The Position

The Safety Coordinator will lead and manage safety initiatives across active construction projects in the Cincinnati area and surrounding regions. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations, driving consistent execution of safety programs, and reinforcing a strong safety culture across field and office teams. This position will be highly visible on job sites and will focus on proactive hazard identification, routine inspections, incident investigation, and corrective action implementation. The ideal candidate has strong construction safety expertise, with deep familiarity supporting steel erection and heavy construction operations. Travel to sites is primarily day trips, with overnight travel expected approximately 10% of the time (typically once or twice per month).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management (public and/or private sector projects)
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations and their application in the field
  • Experience applying CFR 1926 OSHA Construction Safety standards in construction environments
  • Steel erection and installation (structural and rebar)
  • Fall protection
  • Rigging and material handling
  • Cranes and lifting operations
  • Elevated work platforms

  • Proven leadership ability to enforce compliance and drive corrective action
  • Ability to travel to job sites (primarily day trips; ~10% overnight travel)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to learn and use computer-based safety and reporting software
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Environmental Health & Safety, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct all safety-related activities across assigned job sites
  • Conduct routine job site safety inspections and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained
  • Serve as the lead investigator for incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Develop, implement, and maintain written safety programs and procedures
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for field personnel and management
  • Lead and facilitate safety meetings with field labor and office staff
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management, including safety inspection reports, incident investigation reports, corrective action plans, and performance updates
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and CFR 1926 requirements and ensure proper implementation
  • Mentor and develop employees while enforcing safety standards
  • Take corrective action when safety violations or unacceptable risks are identified
  • Manage and coordinate personal weekly work schedules effectively
  • Travel to job sites as required, including periodic overnight stays
