About The Position

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for administering federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to life, safety, emergency response, lockout/tagout, confined space, and accident/injury. Implement general and specific standards that have been adopted by Company policy with specific measures for implementing, reviewing, and setting safe work environment and THM.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of safety experience required, including experience facilitating an effective EHS program in an industrial setting.
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
  • Adequate sight, hearing, and use of limbs to safely operate powered vehicles.
  • Sights capabilities to distinguish proper product identification as well as warning and operational indicators.
  • Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators
  • Sight capabilities to identify accuracy and neatness of required job assignments.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements.
  • Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching in all areas due to limited direct supervision and/or observation.
  • Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job requirements.
  • Climb and descend ladders or steps whether fixed or portable on company facilities in order to access all areas if needed.
  • Hear and understand verbal communication whether it is face to face or via telephone.
  • See and understand written communication
  • Walking through, under, and around machinery with clearance of 30"
  • Activates and uses telephone, calculators as required in assigned job requirements.
  • Ability to feel objects, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of the finger tips.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced training or certification in safety preferred.
  • Internet/Intranet experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate EHS (Employee Health and Safety) and THM (Total Housekeeping Management) programs
  • Ensure EHS program is in compliance with Company, federal, state, and local guidelines.
  • Follow and enforce all safety regulations.
  • Conduct THM and EHS compliance audits.
  • Manage THM and safety records/documentation.
  • Review current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Provide EHS training elements to all employees pertaining to general and specific safety measures.
  • Collaborate with management to stop operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment, and address personnel when non-compliance is identified.
  • Conduct accident investigations.
  • Effectively lead safety committee team and activities of designated safety personnel.
  • Instruct and follow-up on the activities of inexperienced employees.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
