About The Position

Sheakley is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator for a large-scale gas processing facility project in Hobbs, NM. This is a hands-on field safety role supporting full site development within a high-hazard oil and gas environment. The project includes civil work, structural steel erection, heavy equipment installation, high-pressure piping systems, pressure vessels, tank and storage installation, and electrical and instrumentation scope. The Safety Coordinator will support day-to-day field safety across active construction and pre-commissioning activities, including hydrotesting, mechanical completion, loop checks, facility tie-ins, system cleaning, and equipment integration. This is a strong opportunity for a safety professional with oil and gas, industrial, midstream, or heavy construction experience who is comfortable working in fast-paced, high-risk environments.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 required
  • Minimum 3 years of safety experience
  • Strong communication skills and confidence enforcing safety expectations in the field
  • Ability to work 50+ hours per week on a 6-day schedule
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment, high-pressure systems, structural steel, piping, electrical systems, and active construction activities

Nice To Haves

  • Oil and gas experience preferred
  • Experience in high-hazard construction, industrial, or midstream environments strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard recognition, field audits, incident reporting, high-pressure systems, hazardous area work, and pre-commissioning safety procedures is highly valuable

Responsibilities

  • Monitor field activity and enforce site safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, inspections, audits, and observations
  • Identify hazards and partner with field leadership to drive corrective action
  • Support OSHA and company safety compliance across multiple scopes of work
  • Assist with incident investigations, reporting, and documentation
  • Coordinate with site management, subcontractors, and craft teams
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across the project site
  • Support safety oversight during civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and pre-commissioning activities

Benefits

  • $48 to $50/hr
  • $125/day per diem
