Requirements

NCSO, CSO, CSP or CRSP Designation
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English
3+ years' experience working in heavy civil earthworks environment/construction, road building, and mining industry.
Current Class 5 Driver's License and ability to provide a recent Driver's Abstract.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to create, maintain, and perform data management in Excel spreadsheets.
Excellent leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to teach and speak publicly to workers and leaders.
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate

Responsibilities

Administer the site's Safety Program daily.
Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analysis, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safe Work Procedures, ensuring distribution and proper filing.
Review work sites, equipment, procedures, and practices to identify and correct hazards.
Identify, deliver, and administer all required safety training for supervisors and employees.
Post all Safety bulletins, Safety Posters, and Safety rules and Regulations.
Assist Project Managers in accident investigations, analysis, and preparation of accident reports and summaries.
Ensure submission of all pertinent safety reports.
Prepare descriptions of identified unsafe conditions and the steps taken to correct them.
Prepare copies of inspection reports on equipment.
Prepare copies of Field Safety Inspection checklists.
Ensure corrective action is taken for identified deficiencies.
Review accident reports to stay updated on project and company safety performance.
Conduct site orientations for new employees and contractors.
Undertake other duties as requested by the Project Manager.
Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).
Uphold safety policies and promote safety awareness.
Ensure the job site is safe and free of hazards before work commences.
Attend scheduled crew change meetings.
Utilize safeguards, safety appliances, and personal protective equipment as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, including the Mines Act.
Ensure all employees are Fit for Duty, lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) when required, and investigate all health, safety, and environmental incidents to prevent future occurrences.
