About The Position

Skyhook Stairs & Rails is seeking a proactive Safety & Compliance Coordinator to help develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety and compliance program supporting our fabrication facilities, field installation operations, fleet, and administrative compliance requirements. This position will work closely with company leadership, project managers, field supervisors, shop personnel, and project teams to promote a culture of safety, ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, and support operational excellence throughout the organization. The Safety & Compliance Coordinator will spend significant time in both fabrication facilities and active construction jobsites conducting inspections, training employees, identifying hazards, maintaining compliance records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong leadership, organizational, and training experience who is interested in building a long-term career in construction safety, compliance, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in military, industrial, manufacturing, construction, or related environments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and motivate employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed records.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
  • Valid California Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel between jobsites and company facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • OSHA 510, OSHA 500, CHST, ASP, CSP, or related safety training.
  • Construction, manufacturing, industrial, or military safety experience.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update the company's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
  • Develop safety forms, inspection checklists, and training materials.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Assist leadership in establishing safety goals, metrics, and performance tracking.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and safety observations.
  • Perform job walks to identify hazards and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor compliance with company safety policies and applicable OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations.
  • Partner with project managers, foremen, and supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Attend project kickoff meetings and pre-construction meetings as needed.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and hazard assessments.
  • Monitor employee compliance with PPE requirements and safe work practices.
  • Conduct periodic ride-alongs and field observations.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating project-specific safety risks.
  • Conduct routine inspections of fabrication facilities and equipment.
  • Monitor housekeeping, material storage, machine guarding, and hazard communication practices.
  • Assist with forklift safety programs and equipment certification tracking.
  • Verify safety equipment inspections are completed and documented.
  • Assist with maintaining emergency action plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Coordinate facility safety improvements and corrective actions.
  • Conduct new employee safety orientations.
  • Coordinate and deliver ongoing safety training programs.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Assist supervisors with employee development related to safety and compliance requirements.
  • Promote employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate and track required employee certifications and training programs.
  • Conduct accident, injury, vehicle incident, near-miss, and property damage investigations.
  • Prepare investigation reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track incident trends and assist in developing preventive measures.
  • Coordinate post-incident follow-up activities.
  • Maintain records of incidents, corrective actions, and safety performance metrics.
  • Support workers' compensation administration and return-to-work processes.
  • Maintain company information and documentation required by customers, general contractors, and project owners.
  • Coordinate submissions for contractor prequalification and compliance platforms.
  • Maintain current safety programs, insurance documentation, training records, and related compliance materials.
  • Assist project teams in meeting customer-specific safety and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain driver qualification files and required documentation.
  • Coordinate periodic motor vehicle record (MVR) reviews.
  • Track driver licensing requirements and expiration dates.
  • Assist with vehicle inspection and fleet safety programs.
  • Maintain records related to fleet incidents, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Promote safe driving practices and fleet accountability.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and required regulatory records.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) records and support the company's Hazard Communication Program.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance audits and inspections.
  • Develop organized systems for tracking safety, compliance, training, and certification records.
  • Maintain employee certification, licensing, and training databases.
  • Track expiration dates and coordinate renewal training.
  • Assist company leadership with operational improvement initiatives related to safety, compliance, and risk management.
  • Support company leadership in developing a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Continually pursue professional development in safety, compliance, and risk management.
  • Assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
