Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing as applicable.
  • Is knowledgeable regarding guidelines for infection control, body substance precautions, patient safety, and body mechanics.
  • Maintains acceptable standards set by those guidelines.
  • Completes a de-escalation class within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with elderly patients or act as a companion.

Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one observation of selected patients for the purpose of identifying behaviors which are potentially hazardous to self or others in accordance with facility policies and procedures; reports needs and concerns to licensed nurse.
  • Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
  • Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
  • Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, providers, and all levels of healthcare.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs as prescribed.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members.
  • Resolves conflicts independently as appropriate.
  • Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.
  • Administers medication as prescribed by the physician appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to safety measures.
