About The Position

The Safety Assistant supports ACT Pipe & Supply's safety programs across its Texas locations. This is a hands-on, field-focused role responsible for conducting site inspections, following up on safety concerns, supporting safety training and compliance initiatives, and helping ensure corrective actions are completed. The role helps promote safe work practices and maintain compliance across warehouse, yard, shop, and other operational environments within Texas.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a two-year college required, preferably in Safety, Risk Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% throughout Texas on a monthly basis required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in safety, EHS, risk management, operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in construction, oil and gas, warehouse/distribution, trucking, industrial shop, or similar operational environments preferred; forklift experience is a plus.
  • First Aid/CPR, Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, or other relevant safety training or certifications preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices; OSHA certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability and willingness to spend significant time in warehouse, yard, shop, and field environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors and conduct facility, yard, and jobsite inspections.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail when identifying, documenting, and following up on safety concerns.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and interact comfortably with employees in field and operational environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to multiple issues at the same time.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and flexible when responding to changing priorities and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits, both indoors and outdoors, which may include warehouses, yards, shops, offices, and other company work areas.
  • Identify safety concerns, document findings, and follow up with branch personnel to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Assisting with safety training and compliance initiatives
  • Creating and maintaining accurate safety records, spreadsheets, reports, inspection documentation, and corrective-action tracking.
  • Support safety and operational projects across ACT locations as needed.
  • Partner with branch personnel and leadership to promote safe work practices and reinforce company safety expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
