About The Position

The Safety Assistant supports nurses by providing continuous, uninterrupted observation of patients with complex safety needs. The role works with nursing staff to maintain a safe environment in accordance with organizational standards and policies and reports abnormal findings. The position is based in the Emergency Department at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and is scheduled 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, three days per week, at 0.9 FTE (72 hours per pay period).

Requirements

• No work experience required.
• BLS certification as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider is required within 90 days of employment.
• Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Department-specific competencies are detailed in the unit or department scope of service.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma, GED, or higher education preferred.
