About The Position

The Safety Assistant Section Manager reports directly to the Safety Section Manager and is a delegate role during the Manager’s absence. The Assistant Section Manager mentor’s corporate safety coordinators and affiliate safety PIC’s. Collaborates with Corporate Safety and Plant level Leadership teams to drive continuous improvement and maintain regulatory compliance. This roll supports and facilitates the company’s Safety and Health programs across multiple manufacturing facilities. The Safety Assistant Section Manager Leads safety audits, assists with corporate‑wide compliance initiatives, supports/facilitates incident investigations, and ensures consistent application of safety standards across all manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years in industrial/manufacturing or process chemical, commercial environments, with some supervisory or managerial experience and can demonstrate expertise in: OSHA standards and regulations in the manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulatory agencies (OSHA, Texas Railroad Commission, NFPA, AMSE).
  • Position requires strong leadership and managerial capabilities, with the ability to supervise and mentor safety personnel across multiple sites or departments.
  • Excellent written communication skills; must be proficient at writing safety procedures, internal memos, and creating reports to upper management. Additionally, the manager serves as the primary communicator to the Group on all thing’s safety.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence employees at all levels of the organization to drive all safety initiatives.
  • Good supervisory skills, with proven track record of achieving safety goals and holding teams accountable for results.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent safety training and experience preferred.
  • Preferred Certifications but not required: Certified Safety Manager, Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO), Safety, Health and Risk Management (SHERM), Safety, Health & Environmental Professional (SHEP)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting the Safety Section Manager with designing and implementing an effective Corporate Safety Programs and Initiatives.
  • Responsible for periodically auditing Inteplast Group Plants for compliance with required safety programs and all established rules and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies and the enforcement of all company safety rules and procedures.
  • Review and revise corporate safety procedures and forms.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Plants meet at a minimum the Inteplast Basic Required Training requirements for all employees to provide a safe working environment.
  • Facilitate annual corporate safety audit that includes the review of all Plant’s and Division corrective action status of: Incident Investigations, Audits and inspection, Training programs and record keeping, Year-end Safety Trends.
  • Report trends and follow-up quarterly with each Plant on status of open actions regarding: Corporate and Annual Self Safety Audits, Incident investigations, Customer and Third-Party Audits and Inspections, Insurance Audits.
  • Responsible for establishing Safe Operability Review Program at each Plant to track any changes occurring within the facility that may affect the plant’s safety program to include changes in: Process chemicals, Technology, Equipment, Procedures, And other areas.
  • Capable of investigating any/all OSHA complaints/citations.
  • Implement new safety programs so that there is renewed content in the Group's safety program.
  • Help maintain and improve the audit/inspection program that occurs as Corporate Safety audits all locations.
  • Develop staff and verify that staff is adequately trained.
  • Oversee the training initiatives of Corporate Safety.
  • Oversee and facilitate safety events such as Safe and Sound Week, Forklift Safety event, etc.
  • Stay current with all regulations validating that the Group is following all requirements in safety.
  • Work with all Group locations on safety related concerns/issues.
  • Oversee and ensure all monthly Group safety data collection and reporting completed by the first of each month.
