About The Position

The Safety and Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace safety programs and employee training initiatives. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. The coordinator manages safety training, recordkeeping, incident investigations, regulatory compliance activities, and employee development programs to reduce workplace risks and improve operational performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, associate’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • 2–5 years of experience in safety coordination, employee training, manufacturing, or a related environment preferred.
  • Experience conducting safety training and managing compliance programs.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of or ability to gain a strong knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety regulations.
  • Excellent presentation, training, and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct investigations and analyze safety data.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Participate in investigating workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, and safety concerns.
  • Track safety incident root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track and report on safety performance metrics and trends.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and support employee involvement in safety initiatives.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous materials documentation.
  • Coordinate new employee safety orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Schedule and track required certifications, licenses, and refresher training.
  • Maintain training records and ensure documentation is current and accurate.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Create training materials, presentations, and learning resources.
  • Support cross-training and workforce development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate training, inspection, and compliance records including OSHA 300 logs.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections and audits as prescribed by the Director of EHS.
  • Prepare required reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure proper documentation of incidents, corrective actions, and training completion.
  • Serve as a resource for employee safety questions and concerns.
  • Promote employee engagement in safety and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicate safety expectations, procedures, and updates throughout the organization.
  • Recognize and reinforce safe work practices.
