About The Position

We are searching for a strategic, detail-oriented individual to join our Security Services Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL Security Services mission is to ensure the security of ARL personnel, facilities, material, and information as an agile, efficient, and service-driven team. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply. Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA. ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in supportance of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of how to correctly identify, mark, and store classified documents and hardware
  • Handling and safeguarding Controlled Unclassified Information
  • Success in an office environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills are crucial to be effective
  • Ability to consistently comply with rules and regulations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
  • High attention to detail
  • Microsoft Office software, databases, and web applications
  • Past success working autonomously and effectively in fast-paced environment
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Library Sciences, Supply Chain Management, and Security and Risk Analysis
  • Security Information Management System (SIMS)
  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
  • National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), specifically safeguarding classified information
  • DoD or USG-based industrial security
  • Digital archiving and records management

Responsibilities

  • Provide agile and efficient document control support and customer service to all organizational groups and personnel in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment
  • Assist with projects involving the tracking and accountability of controlled material
  • Assist with periodic inventories and inspections
  • Review controlled items for proper inventory numbers and other required markings
  • Prepare a wide variety of controlled material such as documents, hard drives, circuit boards, microchips, and other hardware to be sent to approved destruction facilities
  • Conduct records searches which include verification, scanning, and/or filing of physical and electronic records
  • Identify, improve, and implement processes to better safeguard and account for controlled material to ensure compliance with government regulations
