About The Position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is located at the Naval Health Clinic Quantico Resource Management Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Duties include developing and distributing safety training, education, and awareness material; advising leadership, staff, and facility personnel on safety requirements and concerns; tracking and maintaining accident and injury statistics; creating and updating local safety policies and procedures for healthcare facilities; and managing a 24-hour safety and occupational health program for military and civilian personnel in medical, dental, research, pharmacy, laboratory, and clinic facilities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required.
  • Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Lifting up to 10 pounds may be required.
  • US Citizens
  • One year of specialized experience which includes conducting safety and occupational health inspections; preparing safety procedures to eliminate hazardous conditions; and developing local safety directives and procedures.
  • Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
