About The Position

The Safety and Crime Awareness Facilitator will serve as the main source of information and support for individuals and families in and around Queensbridge Houses and the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement in connection with working on and implementing an initiative for our community to promote safety. They will provide individual and group-based support, with guidance and support from Program Director. Topics will include but not limited partnerships, leadership, recruitment and retention of stakeholders, new program initiatives for the community that will work towards creating a safe environment for residents within our community.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree preferred but High School diploma/GED with at least 2 years relevant experience will be considered.
  • Outgoing personality and comfortable doing community outreach and connecting with community members in person and through social media
  • Computer literate, including basic use of Excel spreadsheets for data tracking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively to meet the objectives of the program
  • Interest in and commitment to Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement mission
  • Respect for the rights of individuals to make their own decisions about the services they receive
  • Ability to communicate, respect, and work with individuals from a variety of socio-economic, cultural and backgrounds

Responsibilities

  • Provide workshops and planning meetings to develop ideas to implement an initiative.
  • Conduct and document assessments, attendance and case notes for each stakeholder.
  • Maintain a core group of 25 stakeholders to help plan and execute initiative.
  • Assist with data collection to measure service and referral connections and outcomes.
  • Plan and participate in community events that promote and educate about safety and crime within the community.
  • Identify community partnerships, resources and/or services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
