About The Position

Care for our community, and your career. This position requires a high school level of knowledge. Behavior Management training is required within 6 months of hire. BLS certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire/transfer. A minimum of one year of experience working with persons suffering from mental illness, alcoholism, or substance abuse is preferred. The role involves observing confidentiality regarding protected health information and demonstrating positive communication, tact, discretion, diplomacy, and teamwork skills. The Safety Aide supports the decisions of the treatment team and must be able to work under stress, write legibly, and document accurately. They must be able to communicate patient observations to licensed and professional staff. Good organizational, priority setting, and communication skills are essential. The individual must be self-motivated, observant, conscious of safety concerns in the immediate environment, and alert to small changes in behavior. The ability to recognize and intervene in potentially violent situations is crucial. The Safety Aide must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and interact in a method appropriate for the age group to which the service is provided. The role also requires the ability to move and lift supplies up to 75 pounds and to safely move and transport patients using safe handling equipment.
