About The Position

OCL Group Inc. is seeking a Safety Advisor to join their team on a 14/14 rotation for a fly in/fly out role. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive safety culture across all work groups, demonstrating strong communication skills and sound judgment. Flights will be provided from either Edmonton or Calgary, with flight allowances based on the province of origin.

Requirements

  • 5+ years field safety experience
  • Certified National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Google Docs computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test
  • Must be able to complete a criminal background check
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

  • Additional certifications or post-secondary education
  • Previous Enbridge experience

Responsibilities

  • Performing a general site hazard assessment and developing a mitigation plan to control known hazards associated with the scope of work.
  • Updating the general site hazard assessment as new hazards are recognized.
  • Reviewing field level hazard assessments (FLHA) for proper completion and involvement with all personnel associated with the scope of work.
  • Leading the development of job safety analysis’s (JSA’s) with supervision, employees, and subcontractors.
  • Reviewing or distributing known Job procedures and/or safe work practices that apply to the scope of work, including JSA’s or FLHA Cards.
  • Conducting Safety Meetings at intervals identified in the safety management plan (SMP).
  • Communicating the SMP to employees, subcontractors, client representatives, and visitors.
  • Updating the SMP as required and re-communicating and re-distributing it to all site personnel.
  • Tracking and reporting site safety statistics at set intervals using documentation provided by the Area Safety Manager.
  • Completing incident investigations, including documenting incidents, witness statements, and root cause analysis.
  • Assisting supervision or administering post-incident and/or reasonable suspicion drug testing.
  • Ensuring work on site is conducted in accordance with safe work permits, OCL policies and procedures, client requirements, and OH&S regulations.
  • Completing scheduled safety inspections documented on OCL’s general site inspection form.
  • Communicating learnings from Near Misses, Hazard IDs, Job Observations, and Inspections to all site personnel daily.
