About The Position

Safety Management Group is a nationally recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, training, staffing, program planning, and implementation. SMG seeks a local Safety Advisor - Construction in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client's needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change. This person will be responsible for implementing contractor safety management. This person will travel to locations in Indianapolis and West Lafayette. This person will be in Indianapolis for 3 days and 1 day in Lafayette. Schedule is 4-10 hour days plus 5 hours remote.

Requirements

5+ years of previous Construction Safety experience
Safety Program Development Experience
Demonstrated Safety Leadership
Technical Construction understanding
Ability to engage professionally with clients and contractors

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in safety or related fields preferred
BCSP Certifications is a plus: CSP, CHST

Responsibilities

Acquire expert knowledge of the Management Standard Construction & Installation Projects Design, Planning, & Management. Guide designer, and main contractor stakeholders through the MS-18 framework
Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
Actively participate in pre-bid, pre-construction, progress, owner, event review, safety teams, daily coordination, stand-down's, and other HSE related requests
Facilitates corrective measures were warranted
Represents the contractor or Owner in progress meetings
Verifies compliance with safety policies and procedures as required by law, the Owner or contractor
Provides incident management and support
Interact with craftspeople and promote a safe working culture
Documentation and Report preparation
Conducts Contractor program review
