About The Position

Total Group of Companies is building a talent pool of local Safety Advisors who are interested in casual, project-based work across Western Canada. This posting is for building a pool of talented, optimistic, and safety-minded advisors to connect with qualified candidates as opportunities become available. This is a great opportunity for experienced Safety Advisors who are looking for flexible, casual work and are comfortable supporting short-term projects, remote site work, and travel-based assignments. Safety Advisors support field crews, contractors, and client representatives by helping maintain safe work practices, identifying hazards, supporting site safety requirements, and promoting a positive safety culture. Work may take place in industrial, construction, restoration, turnaround, or remote project environments.

Requirements

  • NCSO
  • CSO
  • HSO
  • HSE designation or equivalent safety background
  • Previous experience in a Safety Advisor, HSE, CSO, HSO, or similar field safety role
  • Comfortable with travel and staying in remote locations when required
  • Able to work independently and communicate clearly with crews, supervisors, and clients
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation, and site safety processes
  • Positive, professional, and team-focused attitude
  • Valid driver’s license preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an Occupational Health and Safety certificate, diploma, or related safety program is considered an asset
  • CRST or CRSP designation is considered a strong asset
  • Additional industry-related safety training, tickets, or professional designations are considered assets, including First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and WHMIS

Responsibilities

  • Supporting site personnel with daily safety expectations and safe work practices
  • Completing site safety observations, inspections, and hazard assessments
  • Assisting with orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings
  • Monitoring work activities for compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements
  • Supporting incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting processes
  • Reviewing documentation such as FLHAs, permits, JHAs, and safety paperwork
  • Communicating professionally with workers, supervisors, and client representatives
  • Promoting a positive, proactive, and solutions-focused safety culture
