About The Position

Under the direction of the VP of Operations and the Human Resources Manager, the Safety Administrator develops and implements safety programs to prevent and correct unsafe work conditions. The Safety Administrator will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two year or Technical College; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification required.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with administration of Safety and/or LMS systems preferred.
  • Three years of relevant environmental health and safety experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains company’s EHS programs and supports safety activities of department managers to ensure implementation of safety activities, and safe work practices throughout the organization. Identifies gaps, monitors effectiveness and ensures documentation is maintained, including any related certifications.
  • Performs safety inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with local, state, or federal safety regulations, including OSHA.
  • Conducts JSAs and works with Leadership and Maintenance to resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Develops, and performs health and safety training, including first-aid, CPR, BBP training. Conducts safety orientation for new hires, temporary employees and contractors, and serves as a resource for health and safety related questions.
  • Investigates industrial accidents and concerns and prepares accident reports. Maintains recordkeeping, including confidential, or protected health information in an organized secure manner, and maintains a high level of confidentiality on highly sensitive data, including Sharps Log.
  • Maintains, monitors compiles metrics, and reports. Communicates changes or updates and maintains currently knowledge of OSHA Regulations. Coordinates and administers industrial hygiene sampling and related records.
  • Serves as a Co-Chair for Safety Committee. Organizes meetings, distributes information and maintains documentation.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments
