About The Position

Save the Children is seeking a Safeguarding Intern to support its mission of fighting for children's rights. This role is integral to helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future by ensuring the organization's commitment to protecting children, families, and communities from harm. The intern will assist the National Safeguarding Team in developing resources, piloting and rolling out tools and training, and monitoring safeguarding implementation across SCUS programs. The position reports to the Senior Advisor, Safeguarding Prevention.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in an Associates, Bachelors, or Master’s degree program, or have graduated within 6 months of the start date.
  • Interest in safeguarding, child protection, or education work.
  • Coursework or experience in a related field such as social work, public health, education, or international development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to work with diverse teams.
  • Good judgment and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information responsibly.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SharePoint or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with children, low-income communities, or communities impacted by disaster.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, review, and formatting of safeguarding resources and materials.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining safeguarding resources within SharePoint for team access.
  • Conduct research on state-level safeguarding policies, guidelines, and legal requirements.
  • Compile and maintain training materials and Community of Practice (CoP) resources.
  • Provide logistical and coordination support for trainings and CoP events.
  • Assist with facilitation and documentation of learning sessions.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems to monitor tool adoption, completion, and follow-up actions.
  • Collect and synthesize feedback from teams on safeguarding tools and processes.
  • Analyze safeguarding reporting and response data to support continuous improvement in prevention efforts.
