About The Position

The Safe Outdoor Space (SOS) 1st Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shelter operations during second shift hours, ensuring a safe, organized, and compliant environment for participants and staff. This role provides direct supervision to staff, coordinates participant services, maintains accurate data and reporting, and serves as a key liaison between the organization, city officials, and community partners.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a social service or human service setting.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in training, supervisory and staff mentorship.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with participants from diverse backgrounds, including those who are experiencing mental health, substance use, traumatic, and medical barriers; and must model effective engagement strategies.
  • Must be able to professionally communicate and maintain productive relationships with colleagues and partner agencies; work in a fast-paced environment; work as part of a team & independently; use sound judgement; demonstrate personal responsibility and integrity; show initiative; and an ability to work interconnectedly.
  • A sensitivity to cultural diversity and lifestyle differences is essential.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (Spanish a plus).
  • Visual acuity is sufficient to maintain system of records and reports containing computer-generated and handwritten documents.
  • Ability to handle sensitive material, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and displaying sound judgement.
  • Mobility is sufficient to conduct regular duties within a normal office environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds in order to safely manage office supplies and equipment.
  • Present a valid fingerprint card on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all participant intakes and exits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with program guidelines
  • Maintain and update the participant list, ensuring real-time accuracy of census data
  • Track and maintain daily participant count spreadsheets and nightly census reporting to partners
  • Participating in campus appeals processes and support participant-related decisions
  • Collaborate with city and CBI partners regarding participant case management needs
  • Supervise and provide leadership to a team of 9 staff members during second shift
  • Schedule staff and assign coverage for all SOS operational stations
  • Conduct at least monthly 1 on 1 Paycor documented supervisions to your assigned staff
  • Respond to radio calls and manage on-site incidents in real time
  • With the Program Manager, issue disciplinary actions for staff and participants as needed
  • Review, verify, and approve second shift staff timecards by the due date
  • Edit, upload, and distribute incident reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Coordinate and staff incidents with city officials and CBI partners
  • Ensure all incidents are documented in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Maintain, clean, and audit program data to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Run reports regularly and verify data integrity
  • Manage City and Keys reporting requirements
  • Track census data and submit nightly reports to community partners
  • Order, track, and manage meal distribution; submit monthly logs to finance
  • Order program supplies as needed and maintain inventory
  • Oversee and confirm proper bin disposal processes
  • Request and manage flex funds in alignment with program needs
  • Serve as a liaison with city officials and CBI representatives
  • Attend regular meetings with city and partner agencies
  • Provide site tours to outside agencies as requested by the city
  • Coordinate with city officials and vendors regarding facility repairs and maintenance
  • Participate in campus events and support operations as needed
  • Assist with special projects, including training initiatives and cross-functional support
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program success
