About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the proper processes are utilized for accepting, storing, and handling mail and freight. The Lead Cargo Agent will ensure accurate processing of all received mail and freight, including input into TakeFlite, and conduct daily on-hand reconciliations. This position also ensures timely delivery of backhaul mail and freight to the post office or mainline carriers, maintains ramp and storage areas, and supervises the staging of flight loads. Additionally, the Lead Cargo Agent will assist customers with shipping, receiving, or locating freight orders, supervise daily maintenance and fluid checks on ground service equipment, and report operational discrepancies or needs to the Station Manager or Cargo Manager. This role also involves assisting with employee disciplinary actions and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Able to lead employees in a safe and positive manner.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to take directions and be flexible.
  • Experienced in operating ground service equipment.
  • Good Computer skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, using independent judgment and decision-making.
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three years of applicable experience.
  • Must be able to pass a ten-year security background check for airport badging.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Must be able to routinely lift 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the proper processes are utilized to accept, store and handle mail and freight
  • Ensures that all mail and freight received is accurately processed, including input into TakeFlite.
  • Ensures that an on hand reconciliation is completed daily.
  • Ensures that backhaul mail and freight is delivered to either the post office or mainline carriers in a timely manner.
  • Maintains ramp and mail and freight storage areas.
  • Supervises the staging of flight loads.
  • Assists customers with shipping, receiving, or locating their freight orders either in person or on the phone.
  • Supervises daily maintenance and fluid checks on ground service equipment.
  • Notifies the Station Manager or Cargo Manager of any operational discrepancies or needs.
  • Assists with employee disciplinary actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
