About The Position

The Rx Lab Technician provides lab support in Maui Jim’s Prescription Lens Manufacturing Lab. The position operates equipment and performs production tasks across the Surface, Finish, and/or AR Coatroom departments to process prescription lenses, maintain equipment and production flow, and support the lab’s goals for high production, low spoilage, customer satisfaction, and quality.

This is a second-shift role, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The hourly rate is $18.00, with a $2.00-per-hour shift differential. The role requires working with production machinery, following written procedures and safety practices, and collaborating across lab departments.

Responsibilities

• Run multiple operations within the Surface, Finish, and/or AR Coatroom departments to process Maui Jim prescription lenses.
• Manage the timely flow of lenses and trays through the process.
• Maintain equipment maintenance and operating manuals.
• Maintain continual operation of machinery.
• Cross-train in all department activities and positions.
• Follow written procedures to ensure proper and efficient operation of equipment.
• Multitask to maintain efficient production flow and minimize breakage.
• Work across Rx departments to support high production, low spoilage, customer satisfaction, and high quality.
• Monitor and assist with equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Consult with the Lab Manager about equipment breakdowns, parts orders, and expansion needs.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness.
• Follow all lab safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as requested or required by the manager.
