About The Position

Blue Compass RV is seeking a skilled Body/Paint Shop Technician to specialize in the high-quality collision repair and painting of RVs. This role involves making repairs to damaged body panels, including replacement, repair, fabrication, and painting. The technician will work with various materials such as fiberglass, aluminum, steel, and composites, and will be proficient in spraying single-stage and base/clear paint systems. The position also offers training in other RV repairs when collision work is not available. The technician will perform repairs and maintenance in accordance with factory and dealership specifications, ensuring an excellent customer experience. Efficiency in this role can lead to increased earning potential.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in custom vehicle painting / automotive painting / RV painting or Metal/Body Work.
  • Ability to prep, refinish, and color match.
  • Experience in base coat clear coat applications.
  • Experience with fades, pearls, and stripes.
  • Ability to perform major painting repairs.
  • Ability to complete work in a high-quality manner.
  • Ability to make repairs on a variety of materials including fiberglass, aluminum, steel and composites.
  • Proficient at spraying both single stage and base/clear paint systems.
  • Ability to make repairs to damaged body panels of RV's, to include replacement, repair, fabrication, and painting of body panels.
  • Occasional replacement of windows and windshields.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair recreational vehicle equipment and structures, determining the best product for repair.
  • Keep track of parts and materials used in repair or replacement activities.
  • Keep supervisor apprised of work progress and ensure final work product is inspected.
  • Perform related troubleshooting tasks based on skill level.
  • Remove vehicle trim to gain access to vehicle body.
  • Fill depressions with body filler to ensure a quality repair.
  • Remove damaged parts using power tools and cutting torch.
  • Bolt or weld replacement parts in position using power tools and welding equipment.
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces using power tools and hand tools.
  • Replace bolts on panels and align properly.
  • Make cosmetic repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Use special equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections back to original specifications.
  • Develop appropriate and efficient methods for each job.
