About The Position

This position requires a Russian Linguist to provide translation, interpretation, and analysis of oral and written materials such as classified reports, data, briefings, and conversations. The role involves providing assessments, transcription, translation, interpretation, cultural advisement, and media analysis to ensure timely and accurate development of actionable data and products. The linguist will perform written translations, ensuring the meaning and intent of the original text are preserved. As an interpreter, the individual must comprehend and speak both Russian and English, choose appropriate expressions, and understand the cultural context of both languages. Responsibilities also include researching in native languages and writing comprehensive information papers. Linguists may be required to complete annual evaluations and retesting for potential service extensions. This position is contingent upon the award of a contract.

Requirements

  • Current/Active Public trust clearance
  • US Citizenship
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Studies, Anthropology, Communication or a related field from an accredited and reputable institution and 8 years of relevant experience. An additional 4 years experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience working in support of U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. government agencies.
  • Minimum of 3/3/3 scores or higher in testing scores both in English and Modern Standard Russian within the last 5 years.
  • Objective, Unbiased, & Logical cultural advisement.
  • Able to follow orderly and sequential systematic procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide foreign language interpretation, translation, transliteration & transcription, document exploitation (DOCEX) services.
  • Provide written and verbal translation of various types of media from target language to source language while maintaining congruity in judgment.
  • Excellent listening skills with ability to pay attention to minute details.
  • Comfortable providing presentations and working with small and large groups.
  • In depth cultural understanding of customs, symbolism, mannerisms, traditions of various ethnic groups residing throughout the Eastern Europe or Central Asian States.
  • Demonstrated capability to work with Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Information Operations/ PSYOP/MISO units OR, experience working with U.S. Special Operations Forces or other Military forces in Eastern Europe or Central Asian states.
  • Language ability in another required language; Ukrainian or Polish at the same levels.
  • Native Speaker.

  • Provide translation in written and/or oral form.
  • Provide assessments, transcription, translation, interpretation, cultural advisement, and media analysis services to ensure actionable data and products are developed and processed quickly and accurately.
  • Provide written translations of source texts in one language into another language, as identified above, with the meaning and intent of the original text (Translations).
  • Read and comprehend the languages.
  • Write comprehensibly in one of the source languages.
  • Choose the equivalent expression in the Source language that both fully conveys and best matches the meaning intended in the source language (referred to as congruity judgment).
  • As an Interpreter, have a command of both of the languages (Russian/English).
  • Comprehend both the source language and English as spoken and written.
  • Speak both of these languages.
  • Choose an expression in English that fully conveys and best matches the meaning of the source language.
  • Have familiarity with the cultural context of both languages.
  • Have knowledge of terminology in specialized fields.
  • Research in source (Native) languages and write a comprehensive command level information paper.
  • Complete an annual evaluation and retesting process to determine eligibility for possible extension of services required.
